Police arrest man, woman for hijacking N2.7m beer in Ogun
Member of the robbery gang, Saheed Omotosho, and the receiver of the stolen beer, Mrs. Adijat Azeez, were arrested
Two suspects have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command, following the hijacking of a truck-load of lager beer worth N2,714,000, on the highway.
It was gathered that the the truck-load of beer coming from Ilesa and headed towards Iragbiji in Osun, which eventually got stolen by gun-wielding robbers,was recovered at Ode-Remo in Ogun State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, in his statement, disclosed that a member of the robbery gang, Saheed Omotosho, and the receiver of the stolen beer, Mrs. Adijat Azeez, were arrested.

The statement read;
“Police in Ogun State has arrested two suspects in connection with hijacking of a truck load of Trophy Lager Beer coming from Ilesa heading towards Iragbiji in Osun State on gun point.
“The arrest of the suspects followed a distress call received by Policemen attached to Sagamu area Command that a truck with Reg. No LEW 615 XA, yellow in colour, was hijacked by three armed men while coming from Ilesa where he had gone to convey Trophy beer valued at Two Million, Seven Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Naira and that the vehicle tracking device indicated that the men are heading towards Sagamu with the truck.
“On the strength of the distress call, the Area Commander, Sagamu Ibrahim Sa’ad Muhammad quickly put all the patrol team around the area on red alert to be on lookout for the truck and the armed men.
The Anti-robbery team of the Area Command later intercepted the truck along Sagamu/Ore road where they demobilised the truck, blocked it and successfully apprehended one of the robbers while the other two escaped with their arms.
“The arrested robber Saheed Omotosho, disclosed that the product in the truck has been delivered to their receiver. He later led Police operatives to the said receiver, Adijat Azeez at Ode-Remo where the product was recovered and the receiver promptly arrested.”

He said the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the suspect be transferred to FSARS for discreet investigation with the view of hunting the fleeing members of the gang and bring them to justice.
